Preparations for the 1st launch of OneWeb are at final phase

At the Guiana Space Center this morning, Soyuz-ST-B launch vehicle has been transported from the Processing Facility to the launch table and fixed on it.

The work is carried out for the pilot launch of the first batch of OneWeb satellites which is scheduled for February 27 at 18:37 local Guiana time (February 28 at 00:37 Moscow time) under the contract between Glavkosmos and Arianespace.

OneWeb- Pilot is the first batch of satellites of the new constellation which is to be deployed in low-Earth orbit. Their mission is to support high-speed data transfer with the rate up to 8 Gb/s, providing Internet access for private users.

The name O3b stands for “Other 3 billions”, which refers to the world's population, where broadband Internet is not available right now. Thanks to the O3b satellites, the Internet will come to them.
