Glavkosmos To Assist Mali In Creating a Space Agency and Training Space Specialists
BAMAKO (MALI), November 6. — In the Malian capital Bamako, a delegation from JSC Glavkosmos (part of Roscosmos) conducted on-site reconnaissance activities ahead of the establishment of Mali’s own space agency.
The site reconnaissance was carried out in accordance with a contract signed by JSC Glavkosmos on October 23, 2026, with the Société Malienne de Transmission et de Diffusion (SMTD-SA). The current contract provides for analytical and advisory services on the creation of the Republic of Mali’s space agency, and, as a result, Glavkosmos representatives familiarized themselves with sites for ground stations and facilities of Mali’s future space agency.
In addition, JSC Glavkosmos signed a contract with the Directorate General for Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Mali: under the terms of the contract, Malian specialists will undergo specialized training in the space sector at the Moscow Aviation Institute. As part of the contract’s implementation, the Glavkosmos delegation held several meetings with representatives of Mali’s educational and scientific community. The discussions covered the specifics of the specialists’ training and the prospects for further cooperation.
