Preparations for the launch of 42 small spacecraft under Glavkosmos contracts are being completed at Vostochny

VOSTOCHNY, June 24. – The Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle, with the Fregat upper stage, the Meteor-M No. 2-3 satellite as the main payload and 42 small spacecraft as the rideshare payload,  was rolled out from the assembly and testing facility and installed at the launch pad of the Vostochny Ñosmodrome. The launch is scheduled for June 27 at 14:34 Moscow time.

Representatives of the Roscosmos and Glavkosmos (part of Roscosmos) management, as well as the representatives of customers, designers and manufacturers of the small spacecraft, observed the rollout of the launch vehicle. Glavkosmos is the main integrator of the works and the launch service provider in the project of launching rideshare payloads.

Now the specialists of the Russian space industry enterprises are carrying out the final technological operations. They are conducting pre-launch tests of systems and units of the Soyuz-2.1b; the interaction of onboard and ground equipment is also being checked.

As part of the contractual relationship between Glavkosmos and the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovations, 16 educational university CubeSats of the Space PI project will be launched under the 'Planet Attendant' program. Nine SmallSats will be launched within the Roscosmos UniverSat program for launching small spacecraft for educational and scientific purposes. Seventeen more small spacecraft will be launched as a rideshare payload for the benefit of Russian and foreign commercial customers.
