Russia and India are an example of mutually beneficial cooperation in space

MOSCOW, October 27. – Russian-Indian cooperation in the space sphere is an example of a pragmatic and mutually beneficial approach to the development of cooperation between countries, said Dmitry Loskutov, Director General of Glavkosmos JSC (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) on Thursday, speaking at the session "International Cooperation" at the Indian Space Congress (India Space Congress 2022, ISC-2022), which is taking place in New Delhi these days.

“The world is going through a serious transformation today, and along with the challenges that this period of instability brings, new opportunities are opening up. In these conditions, the advanced and science-driven space industry can contribute to strengthening ties between countries through joint space exploration,” he said. “Russia and India are rightfully proud of the long and successful history of such cooperation: both countries at the level of governments, space agencies and private businesses demonstrate an example of mutually beneficial, respectful and pragmatic approach to developing cooperation in space.”

Glavkosmos cooperates with the Human Space Flight Centre of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) within the Indian national human spaceflight program Gagnyaan. The Russian company has fulfilled contracts to train four Indian Air Force pilots for the spaceflight at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center and the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Moreover, the systems and equipment for the Gaganyaan crewed space transportation spacecraft, individual equipment for future Indian cosmonauts (spacesuits, seats and coach liners produced by the Russian Scientific and Production Enterprise Zvezda) were also supplied to India under the Glavkosmos contracts.

ISC-2022 takes place in New Delhi from October 26 to 28 under the motto "Leveraging Space to Power Next-Gen Communication & Businesses", leading participants of space activities from India and foreign countries take part in this event.
